Epilepsy and Glyconutrients

Epilepsy is a Greek from the word epilambabein, meaning to seize or attack. Epilepsy is a neurological condition that makes people susceptible to seizures. The term 'seizure' is often widely used to describe an abnormal spasm or convulsion, generated by excessive electrical activity in the brain. A seizure is a change in sensation, awareness, or behaviour brought about by a brief electrical disturbance in the brain.

Throughout our lives literally billions of electrical messages are fired between these cells, controlling every single thing we think, feel, or do. To accomplish this, nerve messages usually travel between nerve cells in an orderly manner - but sometimes there in an upset in brain chemistry which causes the messages to become scrambled causing the neurons to fire faster than usual and in bursts, and triggering a seizure

Epilepsy is characterised by recurrent, sudden attacks of disordered cerebral function. These sudden attacks are brief attacks of altered consciousness, motor activity, or sensory phenomena. Epilepsy has been recognised as a unique disorder for thousands of years, and references to its symptoms occur through the ages, from Babylonian tablets to the Bible

Epilepsy is a brain disorder in which clusters of neurons in the brain occasionally signal in an abnormal way. This difference causes strange sensations, emotions, and behaviour or sometimes convulsions, muscle spasms, and loss of consciousness. Some people have just one type of seizure, others have more than one type.

Epilepsy has many possible causes - anything that disturbs the normal pattern of neuron activity. It may develop because of an abnormality in brain wiring, an imbalance of nerve signalling chemicals called neurotransmitters, or some combination of these factors.

In 1997, a group of scientists looked at a total of 135 people with epilepsy. More than 80 percent of these people had one or more abnormalities in their cellular immune defences. Because of this people with epilepsy may benefit enormously from glyconutrient supplementation. Complete glyconutrition provides immune balance, fortification, and maintenance. For all people, not just those with epilepsy, glyconutrients support the body to heal, repair, regenerate, regulate and protect itself.
