Cystic Fibrosis and Glyconutrients

Cystic fibrosis is an inherited disorder, mostly of young children. Sometimes the disease is not diagnosed until adolescence or adulthood. It is a disease of the exocrine glands and affects the pancreas, respiratory system, intestines, liver and sweat glands. People with cystic fibrosis secrete very thick mucous from the trachea or tracheobronchial glands. They also have abnormal secretions of sweat and saliva. The pancreas may release enzymes improperly, a condition called pancreatic insufficiency. People with cystic fibrosis experience chronic respiratory infections, pancreatic insufficiency, and increased electrolytes in sweat.  The pancreatic insufficiency leads to nutrient deficiencies, which can further impair the body's ability to combat the respiratory infections.

Different people have different levels of abnormalities in cystic fibrosis. The abnormally thick mucous prevents proper clearing of sputum and bacteria from the lungs, the person's lungs become chronically infected. The mucous blocks the secretion of enzymes used for digesting foods from the pancreas.

One study suggests that cystic fibrosis patients have inadequate antioxidant defenses to cope with the increased oxidative stress that these patients regularly experience.

For people with cystic fibrosis, glyconutrients support their body to heal, repair, regenerate, regulate and protect itself. The essential 8 glyconutrients increase cell to cell communication in all cells to promote healthy cells, which make healthy tissue, which in turn makes healthy organs, and healthy organs make healthy bodies.

For all people not just those with medical conditions associated with cystic fibrosis, glyconutrients form the basic cellular language of all cells. Cells require adequate amounts of glyconutrients to allow cells to communicate 'correctly'. These nutrients are known to improve the immune system function, organ function and improve basic body physiology. If cells cannot communicate correctly they cannot function correctly or stay healthy. Glyconutrients for cell communication are pivotal no matter what other supplements you decide to take.
